Thumbprint Cookies

  • 1/2 C. margarine
  • 1/2 C. brown sugar
  • 1 Egg yolk, {save egg white}
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 Cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Mix together all of the ingredients. Roll the dough into 1″ balls, dip into the beaten egg white, and roll in finely chopped walnuts.

Bake the cookies 5 minutes on an ungreased baking sheet at 375 degrees. Remove the cookies from the oven, and imprint them with your thumb. Return them to the oven and bake 8 minutes more. When the cookies are cool, fill the imprints with jam, enjoy!
